Quick setup recipes

Short answers for common timetable setup cases.

Use these when you already know what rule you need and just need the path through the wizard.

01

Set up two shifts

Create one grid per shift, then assign each class to the right grid.

  1. Open Schedule, choose or create the school and schedule, then go to Grid.
  2. For the first shift, enter a grid name, set Shift to "First shift", choose weekdays, and add lesson/break blocks with morning times.
  3. Click Add grid, enter the second grid name, set Shift to "Second shift", and add the afternoon lesson/break times.
  4. Save the grid step, then go to Classes and choose the matching grid for every class.
Do not mix morning and afternoon classes in one grid unless they truly share the same bell times.
02

Keep a hard subject out of early or late lessons

Use a subject slot restriction when a subject must not appear in specific lesson numbers.

  1. Add the subject through Teachers first, then go to Subjects and select it.
  2. Click Add rule and set Type to Avoid specific slots.
  3. Set Strength to Hard, select the first or last lesson slots to block, and choose days if the rule applies only on some days.
  4. Add a short reason such as "Too early" or "Too late", then save subject constraints.
Use Soft instead of Hard when the generator may break the preference to place all lessons.
03

Block or soften teacher availability

Teacher limits are set on the teacher, not on each class.

  1. Go to Teachers, click the teacher tab, or click Add teacher and enter their name.
  2. Add the subjects this teacher can teach so the class load can use them.
  3. Click Add limitation, choose Teacher unavailable for a hard block or Avoid if possible for a soft preference.
  4. Pick the days plus From and To times, add a reason if useful, then save teacher settings.
The affected-lessons counter updates from the selected grid lesson times.
04

Set a class weekly subject load

Class load tells the generator which lessons to create for each class.

  1. Go to Classes and click Add class, then enter the class name.
  2. Choose the schedule grid for that class.
  3. Click Add load, choose the subject and teacher, then enter Lessons per week.
  4. Repeat for the class subjects and save class settings.
If a teacher or subject is missing, add it in Teachers first.
05

Require or forbid double lessons

Use subject constraints to control consecutive lessons for one subject.

  1. Go to Subjects and select the subject.
  2. Click Add rule and choose Double lesson required or Double lesson forbidden.
  3. For required doubles, leave Consecutive slots at 2 unless the lesson must be longer.
  4. Set Strength to Hard when this is mandatory, then save subject constraints.
Required doubles need enough consecutive lesson slots in the class grid.
06

Find what to change after generation

Use the generated review before changing inputs at random.

  1. Go to Generate, click Generate schedule, then open Schedule.
  2. Check Class, Teacher, and Grid views for collisions or unwanted placements.
  3. If lessons are unplaced, read the reason, adjust the matching teacher, grid, class load, or subject rule, save, and generate again.
Hard rules can block placement completely; soft rules show when they were missed.
